Make a meaningful difference through highly personalised, inclusive education.
Catholic Special School is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Teacher to join our specialist education community.
This is an opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with intellectual disability and complex learning needs, working within a collaborative environment where relationships, dignity, inclusion and personalised learning are central to our work.
About the role
As a Teacher at Catholic Special School, you will create engaging, inclusive and personalised learning experiences that respond to the individual strengths, abilities and learning needs of each student.
You will plan and deliver learning aligned with the Australian Curriculum, develop personalised learning goals and use a range of pedagogical approaches, assessment practices and learning technologies to support student progress and achievement.
Working collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and caregivers, you will:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching and learning that responds to students’ varying intellectual, emotional and physical abilities.
- Identify individual learning needs and develop Personalised Plans for Learning (PPLs) that enable students to experience success.
- Establish safe, inclusive and productive learning environments where positive relationships and effective behaviour support enable students to engage in learning.
- Monitor, assess, record and report student progress and achievement using a range of appropriate assessment approaches.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and families to strengthen student learning, participation and wellbeing.
- Engage in professional learning, reflection and collaboration to continually strengthen teaching practice.
- Actively contribute to the Catholic identity, culture and wider life of the school.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, professional conduct and responsibility.
Most importantly, you will bring a belief in the dignity, capacity and potential of every student and a commitment to creating learning opportunities through which each young person can experience achievement and success.
About you
We are looking for a teacher who:
- believes deeply in the capacity, dignity and potential of every student
- demonstrates contemporary and inclusive teaching practice
- can personalise curriculum and learning for students with diverse and complex needs
- builds strong, respectful relationships with students, families and colleagues
- values collaboration and multidisciplinary practice
- is reflective, adaptable and committed to ongoing professional learning
- contributes positively to the Catholic identity, values and community of the school.
Experience in special education is highly valued but should not be seen as a barrier to applying. Teachers with strong contemporary practice, a commitment to inclusion and a willingness to learn are encouraged to consider the opportunity.
Why Catholic Special School?

You will work alongside experienced teachers, Education Support Officers and Allied Health professionals, with opportunities to develop specialist knowledge and contribute to contemporary approaches to curriculum, communication, regulation, wellbeing and inclusive education.
Most importantly, you will join a community committed to ensuring every student is known, valued and supported to learn, participate and flourish.
A range of attractive salary packaging options are available, providing employees with additional financial benefits as part of their overall employment package.
