About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible people to join our team of examination invigilators. Redlands offers students a choice of the International Baccalaureate or the Higher School Certificate and each system has its own examination procedures and routines.

Our invigilation team, under the leadership of our Presiding Officer, runs the internal and external examinations in Years 11 and 12 for both systems. This is a casual position and would suit someone who enjoys working with young people and who is happy to work in discrete blocks during the year, in particular, this role may appeal to those who are recently retired.

Responsibilities of an Examination Invigilator include:

  • Preparing examination venues by arranging stationery, equipment, and papers according to procedures.
  • Assisting students before examinations by guiding them to seats and clarifying permitted items.
  • Giving clear instructions about examination expectations and potential malpractice.
  • Monitoring the room to ensure students remain silent and focused throughout the exam.
  •  Responding to student queries within guidelines and reporting any irregularities or concerns to the Presiding Officer.
  •  Checking attendance, recording early leavers and noting any wellbeing or behaviour matters.
  •  Escorting and supervising students who need to leave the venue temporarily.
  •  Collecting and organising examination scripts at the end of each session.
  •  Supporting an orderly and quiet exit from the venue.

About you

  • You will be someone who brings calm, clarity and a steady presence to an examination environment, and enjoy working with students and supporting the integrity of the assessment process.
  •  The successful applicant will have or be willing to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check and preferably have First Aid and CPR or Anaphylaxis cert.

Would you bring:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures with confidence.
  • Clear communication skills, especially when giving instructions or addressing student queries.
  • A patient and supportive approach when working with young people.
  • Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to maintaining a focused and orderly environment.
  • The ability to remain observant and composed during busy examination periods.
  • A willingness to uphold the standards and expectations of NESA and the IB.
  • A team centred mindset, with the ability to work closely with the Presiding Officer and the broader Examinations Team.
