Our client is seeking a skilled Floor Finisher to join their team, servicing clients across the Greater Sydney region and the CBD.

The Floor Finisher will measure, prepare, install, finish and repair floor coverings at residential and commercial properties, ensuring work meets project specifications, manufacturer instructions and required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Read plans, inspect work areas and take site measurements to determine flooring layouts and calculate material quantities.
• Inspect and prepare subfloors by removing existing coverings, trims and adhesive, repairing surface defects and applying levelling compounds where required.
• Measure, cut and secure underlay and other materials needed for flooring installation.
• Set out, cut and install carpet, vinyl, linoleum, timber, parquetry, cork and other resilient flooring materials according to project requirements.
• Match patterns, align joints and accurately cut flooring around doorways, corners, fixtures and other obstructions.
• Secure flooring using suitable adhesives, nails, fasteners or installation systems, and fit edge trims and transition strips.
• Sand timber floors, apply stains and protective coatings, and check the finished surface for consistency.
• Mix and apply resin flooring systems and grind or polish concrete floors where required.
• Inspect completed flooring, identify defects and repair or replace damaged, worn or incorrectly installed sections.
• Coordinate installation requirements and work schedules with supervisors, clients and other trades.
• Safely operate and maintain flooring tools and equipment, manage dust and chemical exposure, and keep work areas clean and safe.

Requirements:

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant AQF Certificate III, including at least two (2) years of on-the-job training, or a relevant AQF Certificate IV. At least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
• A minimum of 12 months experience as a Floor Finisher
• Practical experience in preparing, installing, finishing and repairing the flooring materials used by the business.
• Any licences, registrations and site safety credentials required for the work.

Skills and abilities

• Ability to interpret plans, take accurate measurements and calculate material requirements.
• Sound knowledge of subfloor preparation, adhesives, installation methods and finishing products.
• Ability to use flooring tools and machinery safely and accurately.
• Attention to detail and ability to deliver consistent finishes within agreed timeframes.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with other trades.
