Work Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor

• Contract until 12th July 2027 with possible extension
• Attractive pay rate of $79.69 per hour plus Super
• Working 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week
• Location - Parramatta

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality Work Health and Safety (WH&S) services and support to the Divisions, ensuring a whole-of-lifecycle approach to safety across legal and other requirements, contractors, suppliers and procurement, objectives and performance indicators, audits, monitoring and review, and consultation, communication and issue resolution.
  
The role promotes a strong culture of risk awareness and safe work practices throughout the division, by providing expert WH&S guidance and advice, supporting the implementation of the Housing Portfolio WH&S Management System, and contributing to effective risk management programs.
  
Key accountabilities

• Provide timely WH&S advice and guidance to ensure compliance with the policies, procedures, and legislation.
• Review and improve WH&S systems, policies, and procedures to support legislative and organisational compliance.
• Conduct WH&S audits and recommend improvement strategies.
• Support Divisions with risk management, hazard identification, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
• Assist with investigations of incidents, hazards and near misses, including corrective actions.
• Coordinate WH&S committees. Coordinate WH&S committees.
• Facilitate internal stakeholder workshops
• Prepare WH&S performance reports and risk metrics for senior management.
• Monitor and report on Duress usage.

Essential Requirements

• Applicants must hold tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in WH&S and an understanding of current legislation, policy, and obligations.
